About us

Three generations
in stone.

Diwan is a new name for an old craft. Our family’s story in stone began in the 1970s, at a quarry in Beit Fajjar, and we still sell stone the way we learned there: we know which layer it came from, and we tell you its real price.

Our story

From the quarry
to Diwan.

  1. A limestone quarry face with cream and golden layers and cut blocks in front

    01The 1970s · Beit Fajjar, Palestine

    The first quarry

In Beit Fajjar, the quarry town south of Bethlehem, the first generation of the Takatkah family opened their first quarry. That is where the family learned to read rock: where a layer starts and ends, and why stone from the same hill changes color from one face to the next.

  2. A sorting yard with stacked limestone slabs and strapped pallets

    02Growth · Amman, Jordan

    Palestinian and Jordanian stone together

The family expanded to Amman, bringing Palestinian and Jordanian stone into one trade. White, cream, gold and black basalt were now in our hands, and with them the experience of comparing stones and knowing which suits which building.

  3. A flatbed truck loaded with wrapped stone pallets on a desert road

    03Export · The Arab Gulf

    From Amman to the Gulf

Then came exports: Jordanian and Palestinian stone to Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and beyond. Distance taught us that a shipment is settled before it moves: careful sorting, sound wrapping, and a full quantity that never needs topping up from a later batch.

  4. A contemporary villa in Amman clad in cream limestone

    Diwan Natural Stone

The third generation of the Takatkah family founded Diwan Natural Stone to build a company with clear systems on the family’s legacy: published prices, written quotes, technical data for every stone, and the whole quantity from one batch in one color. What was once agreed by word is now written down, and what the family knew from experience is now open to every buyer.

What we stand by

What we inherited,
and what we added.

Color follows the layer

The quarry taught us that a stone’s color follows its layer. So we cut and sort your whole order from one layer in one batch, and never top it up from a later one.

The real price

We sell stone as a material at its real price, per square meter or linear meter, and put the price in a clear written quote before any payment.

All of it before you build

Years of exporting taught us that a short shipment delays a project. Your full quantity arrives on wrapped pallets before installation starts.

The name

Why
Diwan?

In our homes the diwan is the room where guests are received and a promise is given. We chose the name because we want every buyer treated as a guest, and the word we write in a quote to be the word we keep.

Samples are paid: a real piece of the stone and finish you choose.
