Shipping Jordanian and Palestinian stone to the Gulf: pallets, trucks and lead times
What to know before ordering natural stone from Jordan to Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar or Kuwait: how many square meters a truck carries, how the stone is packed for the road, how long road transport takes, and what to ask a supplier.

Amman and Jerusalem stone is in demand for majlis rooms and villas across the Gulf because its color is warm and it lives well with heat. Buying it from a distance, though, needs a different arrangement from buying it in Amman. We send stone to the Gulf by road, on flatbed trucks that carry the pallets from our yard straight to your site. These are the basics.
Why road, not sea?
The route from Jordan to the Gulf is entirely overland through Saudi Arabia. A flatbed is loaded at our yard and unloaded at yours, with no unloading and reloading at a port, which means less handling of the pallets and less breakage. The truck also reaches the site itself, so there is no onward transport to arrange from a port.
How many square meters on a truck?
Facade stone 5 cm thick weighs about 130 kg per square meter. A flatbed usually carries 20 to 24 metric tons depending on road and border weight limits, which is roughly 150 to 180 m² per truck. Thicker stone (7 cm tubzeh) carries less, thin 3 cm cladding more. Order in truckload multiples to keep transport efficient.
Packing for the road
- Every pallet is heat-treated timber, as import rules require.
- Pieces stand on edge with spacers, never stacked flat.
- Tight plastic wrap, then a top cover against sun and dust, then straps around the pallet.
- Pallets are ratchet-strapped to the truck bed, and the straps are checked after the border.
- A number on every pallet and photos before closing, sent to you before the truck moves.
Lead times
| Stage | Roughly |
|---|---|
| Cutting, finishing and sorting | 3 – 6 weeks depending on quantity and finish |
| Loading and clearance in Jordan | one week |
| Road transport to Saudi Arabia | 3 – 7 days |
| Road transport to the UAE, Qatar or Kuwait | depends on the city and crossing; fixed in the quote |
We fix the date in the written quote and deliver the whole quantity on one truck or consecutive trucks from the same cutting and sorting.
Documents
Certificate of origin, commercial invoice, packing list with the weight of each pallet, and the timber treatment certificate. Duties and taxes in the destination country are the buyer's, and we can work with your customs broker at the crossing.
Questions to ask any supplier
- Is the whole quantity from one cutting and one sorting, and can I see photos of the pallets before loading?
- What exactly are the thickness and the grade?
- Is the price for the material only, and what do packing and transport include?
- What happens to breakage on the road? (We add waste for road transport and state it in the quote.)
- Can a paid sample be sent first? Yes, and we always prefer it.
The first step: choose the stone and finish in the catalog, work out the quantity in the calculator, then send us the request with your city and the border crossing.
